If you’re looking for an awesome snack that fits in at any party, this is the recipe for you! Rice Krispie Bites are the perfect snack to bring to any occasion, put them in school lunches, or just a midday sugar fix.
How to Make Rice Krispie Bites
If you’ve ever made homemade original Rice Krispie Treats, this recipe will be no problem for you. These are great because you can just make them the same way. Or you can spice them up with some themed colors.
These bites are the perfect accent for any special occasion. You can make them red for Valentine’s Day or the Christmas holiday season, orange for Halloween, green is perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day, or any color or Holiday you want!
Let’s get started with the recipe!
Start out by melting your butter in a large stock pot. We usually do this on medium heat before adding our marshmallows to the melted butter.
If you’re making plain Rice Krispie Bites, you can move on to Step 2. If you are using a themed color like Red Rice Krispie Treats, Blue Rice Krispie Treats, or any Colored Rice Krispie Treats, you would add your food coloring in now.
Feel free to use a lot of food coloring until your marshmallow mix is the desired shade.
If you’re using food coloring, you can add more in now if the cereal is not the shade you want.
Use your spatula to scoop the rice crispy treat batter from the stock pot into the pan. Flatten the mix out until it is completely flat in the bottom of the pan.
Set the mixture to the side and allow to cool for about 20 minutes. You can speed this part up by putting it in the refrigerator or even in the freezer if you are feeling extra impatient.
Once your treats are cooled it is time to cut them. Take out a sharp knife and cut them into large 4 x 4 inch squares. Then cut each of those squares into quarters. This should leave you with several 1 x 1 inch snack sized bites.
Serve and enjoy!
