Add 2 cups of boiling water and 6 oz box of strawberry jello to mixing bowl. Stir until jello mix has dissolved.
Add 2 cups cold water to the bowl and stir well.
Place jello into fridge for at least 30 minutes so it cools and starts to set.
Wash and slice 1 cup fresh strawberries.
Once jello has partially set, remove from the fridge.
Add 1 cup sliced strawberries and 8 oz thawed whipped topping to the bowl.
Use a whisk, spoon or spatula to mix and blend all ingredients together well.
Notes
Tips
Thawed whipped topping - make sure the whipped topping is thawed so that it easily combines with the jello and strawberries.
Fresh strawberries - while you can use frozen strawberries, they are more difficult to slice and they add a little water to the salad as they defrost. Fresh strawberries are a little better for this recipe.
Make sure jello is set - it is important to let the jello set before adding the other ingredients. It doesn't have to be the full time listed on the box. We usually let it cool in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
StorageKeep in an airtight container in the fridge for 5 - 7 days. Freezing is not recommended as it will effect texture.
