⏲️Instructions
Follow along with these easy step by step instructions and process shots to make your own batch of these delicious Christmas butter cookies.
Step one: preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease the cookie sheet with non stick cooking spray.
Step two: In the mixing bowl, add softened butter and sugar. Then, cream them together on medium high speed for 2 - 3 minutes or until light and fluffy.
Step three: Add eggs and vanilla to the mixing bowl. Then, mix at medium speed for an additional minute or until well combined.
Step four: add the flour and salt to the mixing bowl slowly while mixing at low speed. Continue scraping down sides and mixing until it is well combined.
Step five: put the dough into the piping bag with the star tip on the end. Carefully pipe out spiraled circles onto the cookie sheet. Then, chill in the freezer for about 10 minutes.
Step six: Once chilled, place into the oven and bake for 10 - 12 minutes or until edges are firm. Remove from the oven and allow to completely cool.
Step seven - melt chocolate and white chocolate chips in separate bowls. Place each in the microwave at 30 second intervals until melted. Then, dip half of each cookie into one of the melted chocolates making sure to scrape off any excess. Place the dipped cookies onto the cookie sheet or parchment paper, add sprinkles and allow chocolate to completely cool.
⭐Recipe Tips for Success
- Chill once piped - make sure to chill the cookies once you have piped them onto the cookie sheet. This ensures they will not spread as much and will keep their fancy looking peaks from the star tip.
- Allow chocolate to cool - once you have dipped the cookies in the melted chocolate, make sure that you carefully scrape excess off on the side of the dish or allow it to drip off before setting the cookie down. Then, allow the chocolate to completely cool and harden before moving the cookies.
- Allow cookies to cool - before dipping cookies in chocolate make sure they have completely cooled. Warm cookies are more likely to crumble when you dip them in the chocolate as they won't be fully set and firm.
Storage
You can store these for 5 - 7 days at room temperature in an airtight container. Or, freeze them in a freezer bag or airtight container for up to a year.
