    Football Decorated Cupcakes

    Football cupcakes are a fun and easy dessert that adds a game-day touch to any gathering. They start with simple cupcakes-any flavor you like-and get decorated with frosting to look like footballs. These treats come together quickly and fit right in at tailgates, watch parties, or kids' sports celebrations.

    You can play with flavors, colors, and designs to match your team or event. Classic brown icing with white piping gives you the traditional football look, but you can also use team colors or flavored frostings. Their small size makes them easy to serve and great for casual parties.

    These football-themed cupcakes were are quick to decorate, crowd-friendly, and easy to make ahead. They also travel well, which makes them perfect for any football gathering or potluck.

    Ingredients

    • Chocolate Cake Mix
    • Water
    • Oil
    • Eggs
    • Chocolate Frosting
    • White Frosting

    Instructions

    Follow these simple instructions to make your own football decorated cupcakes.

    Step one: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and prepare the cake mix according to directions.

    Step two: Line a cupcake pan with liners (we used brown), and fill each one about half way. Bake for 14 - 18 minutes.

    Step three: After cupcakes have cooled, add chocolate frosting and 1M frosting tip to a pastry bag, and pipe the frosting in a back and forth motion, to resemble a football.

    Step four: Next add the white frosting and a small round frosting tip to a pastry bag and pipe the "laces" onto the cupcakes.

    Hint: if you don't have piping bags, you can use ziploc or sandwich bags to put the frosting in.

    Recipe Tips for Success

    • Ensure that cupcakes are fully cooled before adding any frosting.
    • Stir the frosting before adding to the piping bag for an even consistency.
    • Cupcakes are done baking once you can insert a toothpick or other item in the center and remove without anything sticking to it.

    Storage

    These can be kept in the fridge in an airtight container for 3 - 5 days. Or, they can be frozen for up to a year.

    • 1 cup Water
    • 1 cup Vegetable Oil
    • 3 Eggs
    • 2 cups Chocolate Frosting
    • ½ cup White Frosting
