    Ghost Strawberries

    Jump to Recipe

Ghost Strawberries are the Halloween treat that takes about 10 minutes and looks like you spent way more time than that. White chocolate-dipped strawberries with black candy melt eyes and a little oval mouth - the natural teardrop shape of a strawberry already looks like a ghost, and the white coating leans all the way into it. They show up on Halloween dessert tables, school treat lists, and party boards every single October because they're genuinely that easy and that cute.

One batch makes 16 to 24 strawberries depending on size. No baking, just melting and dipping. The only non-negotiable is that your strawberries need to be completely dry before you dip them - moisture and melted chocolate do not cooperate, and you'll end up with coating that slides or seizes. Once set, store them in the fridge and serve within a day, which is the standard window for any chocolate-dipped strawberry. Make them the morning of your Halloween party and you're good to go.

hese work great as a standalone treat and as a beautiful anchor piece on a larger Halloween dessert board - the white pops against darker candy and chocolate everywhere else. How to Make Ghost Strawberries.

Melt white chocolate or candy melts in a medium bowl in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely smooth.

Fifteen strawberries dipped in white chocolate arranged in rows on parchment paper.

Step one: Dip each strawberry in the melted white chocolate and place on a parchment-lined surface to set. Repeat with all remaining strawberries. Let the white coating set fully before adding the faces.

Dark purple or black melted coating in a small glass bowl on white marble surface, swirled and ready for dipping.

Step two: Melt black candy melts in a small bowl the same way. Transfer to a piping bag and cut a small hole in the tip.

Strawberries dipped in white chocolate with chocolate chip faces arranged in rows on parchment paper to look like ghosts.

Step three: Pipe two small round eyes and a slightly larger oval mouth onto each strawberry. Allow to rest for about 10 minutes until fully set.

Hint: Let the white coating set completely before piping the black faces - piping onto soft white coating will cause the colors to bleed together and you'll lose the crisp ghost expression.

    Recipe Tips for Success

    • Dry your strawberries very thoroughly after washing - even a small amount of moisture causes the coating to seize or slide right off. Pat dry and let them air for a few minutes.
    • White candy melts set firmer and are easier to work with than real white chocolate, especially if this is your first time dipping strawberries.
    • For the face, keep it simple - two small dots for eyes and a slightly larger oval for the mouth. Overthinking the expression makes it look less like a ghost.
    • Make these the day of your event for best results. Refrigerate right after the chocolate sets and pull them out about 15 minutes before serving.

    • 2 lb strawberries washed and dried
    • 12 oz white chocolate or candy melts
    • ¼ c black candy melts

    Instructions

    • In a medium bowl, melt the white chocolate or candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely smooth.
    • Carefully dip each strawberry in the melted white chocolate and place on a sheet of parchment paper to rest. Repeat with all remaining strawberries. Allow the coating to set completely.
    • In a small bowl, melt the black candy melts the same way. Transfer the melted black candy melts to a piping bag and cut a small hole in the tip.
    • Pipe two small round eyes and a slightly larger oval mouth onto each strawberry.
    • Allow to rest for about 10 minutes until fully set.
