    Ingredients

    • Rolled puff pastry sheets
    • Egg
    • Pizza sauce
    • Sharp cheddar
    • Sliced pepperoni
    • Finely diced green peppers
    • Grated parmesan cheese
    • Oregano

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

Bake up these classic and delicious puff pasty pizza pinwheels by following these simple instructions.

Tomato sauce on top of puff pastry.

Step one: Carefully unroll the puff pastry and leave on the parchment it is packaged in. Spread half of the pizza sauce on each puff pastry to cover the entire surface, minus a one-inch strip along the long side.

Cheese and tomato sauce on top of puff pastry.

Step two: Divide the cheese and sprinkle over the pizza sauce.

Puff pastry with tomato sauce, cheese, peppers and pepperoni on top.

Step three: Place the pepperoni evenly over the surface of each puff pastry. Sprinkle with the finely diced green peppers, parmesan cheese and oregano.

Butter on one piece of a rolled puff pastry.

Step four: Carefully, and as tightly as you can without ripping the dough, roll the puff pastry along the long side, opposite of the space we left empty. Crack the egg into a bowl and stir with a fork.  Use a pastry brush to brush the egg along the empty space to create the seam for the pinwheel.

Puff pastry rolled into a log.

Step five: Allow the roll to rest on the seam and use the parchment it was packaged in to roll the entire log and place in the freezer for about 15 minutes or so to firm up before cutting. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Line and spray a couple baking sheets, set aside.

Step six: Once the pinwheels have chilled, remove from the freezer and immediately slice into ½ inch or so size pieces.  Place cut side up on the prepared parchment. Brush each pinwheel with the egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes or just until browned.

Hint: Serve with additional pizza sauce to dip.

    Storage

You can store these in the in fridge for 3 - 5 days as long as they are kept in an airtight container. Alternatively, you can freeze them for up to 6 months.
