    Rudolph Nutella Sandwiches

    Jump to Recipe

Rudolph Nutella sandwiches are honey wheat bread sandwiches filled with Nutella, cut into rectangles, and decorated with candy eyes, a red M&M nose, and pretzel antlers to look like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. They are cute, easy, and ready in about 15 minutes.

Rudolph decorated nutella sandwiches on a plate.

Each sandwich gets cut into three small rectangles for perfectly sized kid portions. A small dab of Nutella acts as the glue to hold on all the decorations. These are great for Christmas morning breakfast, holiday lunch boxes, or a fun kids' snack at any Christmas party.

If you are planning a Christmas party for kids, the Reindeer Trivia game is a fun printable activity to pair with these snacks. It works great for classrooms and family holiday gatherings.

    Ingredients

    • Honey wheat bread
    • Nutella
    • Red peanut M&Ms
    • Pretzels
    • Candy eyes

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

Preparation: Lay out the bread slices and gather all decorating ingredients into small bowls so they are easy to grab during assembly.

Bread with nutella spread on it.

Step one: Spread Nutella onto one slice of bread. Place a second slice on top to make a sandwich. Repeat to make a second sandwich.

    Nutella sandwiches cut into strips.

Step two: Using a pizza cutter, trim all four crusts off each sandwich. Then cut each sandwich into three equal rectangles. You will have six pieces total.

Step three: Dip two candy eyes into a small amount of Nutella and press them onto each sandwich rectangle to help them stick.

Nutella sandwiches with red candies added to them.

Step four: Dip one red peanut M&M into Nutella and press it below the eyes as Rudolph's nose.

Step five: Break each pretzel in half and press both halves into the top of each sandwich rectangle at an angle to form the antlers.

Hint: Use peanut M&Ms rather than regular M&Ms - the raised shape of the peanut M&M makes it stand out more as a nose and sits higher on the sandwich for a better look.

    Recipe Tips for Success

    • Use a pizza cutter to trim the crusts cleanly - it cuts through bread without squishing or tearing the way a regular knife can.
    • Do not over-spread the Nutella or the sandwiches will be too messy to decorate - a thin, even layer is all you need.
    • Work quickly once you start decorating - Nutella can start to firm up slightly and become less sticky as it sits.
    • These are best assembled right before serving so the pretzels stay crisp and the bread does not get soggy.

    Storage

Rudolph Nutella sandwiches are best served immediately after assembly. If needed, you can make the sandwiches and trim them up to a few hours ahead and store covered in the refrigerator - add the decorations right before serving so the pretzels stay crisp.
