⏲️Instructions
Use these easy step-by-step directions to bake up a delicious red, white and blue cake of your own.
Step one: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray 9x13 pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Step two: Add cake mix, water, oil and eggs to mixing bowl. And whisk together until well combined.
Step three: Pour cake batter into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 35 minutes.
Step four: Once cake has cooled, spread whipped topping in an even layer across entire cake.
Step five: decorate cake to look like the American flag. Placing a square of blueberries in the top left corner and stripes of sliced strawberries across the rest of the cake.
Hint: make the sure cake is baked correctly. Edges should be golden brown and you should be able to stick a fork or toothpick in the center without any cake sticking to it when removed.
⭐Recipe Tips for Success
- Thaw whipped topping - make sure the whipped topping is completely thawed otherwise it wont spread well. Sit it at room temperature for about an hour or in the fridge overnight.
- Use fresh berries - while you CAN use frozen berries, they won't be as bright and pretty as fresh berries are.
- Evenly sized berries - try to use similarly sized blueberries and similarly sized slices of strawberries to give the cake a straight and clean look.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 - 5 days. If berries were not super fresh, 3 days will be the max time.
Or, you can freeze in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Defrost in the fridge overnight.
