    Mummy Strawberries

    Jump to Recipe

These Mummy Strawberries are one of those Halloween treats that takes almost no time and somehow makes everyone at the party stop and grab their phone before eating one. White chocolate-dipped strawberries with candy eyeballs and criss-cross drizzle bandages - they look exactly like little mummies, they're genuinely just a dipping project, and they disappear faster than almost anything else on the table. No baking, no special equipment, just chocolate, strawberries, and a piping bag.

The whole thing takes about 10 minutes of actual work plus resting time for the chocolate to set. You get 16-18 strawberries per batch depending on size. Make them the day of - dipped strawberries have about a one-day window in the fridge - and keep them chilled until right before serving. These are perfect for a Halloween party dessert board, a classroom treat, or a fun afternoon project with kids. If you're doing a full Halloween dessert spread, these pair beautifully with the Ghost Strawberries and the Mummy Rice Krispie Treats for a full mummy-themed corner of your table.

The most important detail is putting the eyeball sprinkles on while the chocolate dollops are still wet - they'll slide right off once the chocolate sets. Work one or two strawberries at a time so you don't get ahead of yourself. Everything else can be done in stages.

    How to Make Mummy Strawberries

Set up a parchment-lined workspace. Thoroughly dry your strawberries after washing - any moisture will prevent the chocolate from adhering cleanly.

Twelve strawberries dipped in white chocolate arranged in rows on parchment paper, with green stems exposed at the top.

Step one: Melt white chocolate or candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely smooth. Dip each strawberry and place on parchment to set. Repeat with remaining strawberries.

Step two: Transfer the remaining melted white chocolate to a piping bag. Cut a small hole in the tip. Pipe two small dollops near the top of each strawberry, then immediately press an eyeball sprinkle into each dollop before the chocolate sets.

Step three: Drizzle white chocolate back and forth across each strawberry in a criss-cross mummy bandage pattern, working around the eyeballs. Allow to rest until fully set.

Hint: Place the eyeball sprinkles immediately after piping the dollops - don't do multiple strawberries at once or the chocolate will set before you get back to press in the eyes.

    Recipe Tips for Success

    • Dry your strawberries completely before dipping - even a small amount of moisture causes the chocolate to seize or slide right off.
    • Candy melts are more forgiving than real white chocolate when it comes to melting and re-melting - if this is your first time dipping strawberries, start with candy melts.
    • Cut a very small hole in your piping bag for the drizzle - thin lines look like mummy wrappings; thick blobs do not.
    • Work in a cool room if you can. A warm kitchen means the chocolate takes much longer to set and the eyeballs are harder to secure.

    Storage

Store in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within 1 day. Dry strawberries thoroughly before dipping - moisture is the enemy of melted chocolate. Press eyeball sprinkles on immediately after piping the dollops - the chocolate sets quickly. Only use gel or powder food coloring if adding color - liquid food coloring can cause chocolate to seize.
