How to Make Purple Rice Krispie Treats
Whether you're looking to make Dinosaur egg Rice Krispie Treats or superhero style Incredible Hulk Rice Krispie Treats, this is the recipe you need. The techniques we use in this recipe are very similar to the ones we use in our red, blue or any of our other colored Rice Krispie Treat recipes.
But if you haven't made one of those before, no worries. You can either check out those recipes above, or you can just follow along and this one an you'll pick everything up pretty quick.
Let's get right to making these treats!
Step One
We start this recipe like many others, by melting butter in a large stock pot. Do this on a stovetop with medium heat. Stir your butter with a spatula until it is mostly or completely melted.
Add an entire bag of Jet Puff Marshmallows to the melted butter. You can use your favorite type of marshmallows. We just prefer jet puff because they are consistent in both texture and flavor. Once you've added your marshmallows, use your spatula to stir until everything is melted together.
Now take out your purple food coloring an pour some into the melted marshmallows. Use your spatula to stir and continue to add food coloring until you have the color you want.
Step Two
Once you have the shade of purple you want, add in your Rice Krispies cereal. Measure out six cups and dump them directly into the melted marshmallows. Break out your spatula again and stir everything together until it is thoroughly mixed.
If need be, add more purple food coloring at this point to really make the color pop.
Step Three
Take out a 9 x 13 baking pan and coat the bottom and inside walls with canola oil spray. You can use any flavorless baking spray you prefer. We just like canola oil because it works very well.
Take your purple Krispie batter and dump it into the bottom of the pan. Use your spatula to press the batter into the bottom of the pan until it is completely flat and even.
Set your Rice Krispies Treats to the side so that they can cool for a little bit. This shouldn't take too terribly long, right around 30 minutes or so. You can shorten that time a bit though if you put them in the refrigerator or even the freezer.
Step Four
Once your Rice Krispie Treats have completely cooled, you'll want to cut them. Take out a sharp knife and cut your rice Krispie Treats into two by two inch squares. Depending on how accurate you are with your measurements, you should get between 15 and 16 square treats.
You can serve them as is or as a part in one of your favorite dessert projects. Either way, enjoy!
