- Different size - we like the 2.5 inch size molds, but you can certainly make these larger or smaller if you have a mold with a different size.
- Fresh marshmallows - if you don't want to have to buy dehydrated marshmallows, you can use fresh marshmallows. Just don't add them to them bombs themselves, you'll simply toss a few marshmallows into your mug after adding the water.
- Dark Chocolate Cocoa - we used a store bough milk chocolate cocoa mix for these. But you can use dark chocolate or any other of your favorite flavors to add to the bombs. You can also make your own cocoa mix to add to them.

Step one: melt green candy melts in microwave at 30 second increments until smooth.
Step two: fill mold cavities with melted candy until covered and allow to set. Then add another layer at the top of each mold and all to set. Remove from the mold and add to a warm frying pan melting the ridge/edge of each.
Step two: quickly fill each half with hot cocoa mix.
Step three: add marshmallows.
Step four: quickly add an empty shell to the frying pan and melt the edges then place it on top of the filled halves to seal them. Drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkles to decorate.
Hint: when you are ready to use these, simply add them to a mug, heat 8 - 12 oz of water and slowly pour on top of the bomb. The hotter the water, the better the explosion.
⭐Recipe Tips for Success
- Proper melting - you want your candy melts smooth and completely melted so that they are easy to layer and work with. But you don't want to overheat. Make sure to use 30 second intervals in the microwave, stirring a little between each heating.
- Work quickly - when filling the molds you want to work quickly so that your candy melts don't start to harden before they are layered in. Also, when melting the edges of the halves, make sure to move fast so they don't cool before sealing your bombs together.
- Use a piping bag - if you plan to drizzle extra melted candy melts on top of the bombs for decoration. Take the melted candy melts and put them into a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off.
Storage
You can store these for several weeks at room temperature in an airtight container. Or you can freeze them for up to a year.
