How to Make Santa Rice Krispie Treats
A lot of us associate the Holidays with hanging out with friends and family with food, drinks, gifts and snacks. You can make your holiday snack table a Christmas Rice Krispie Treats themed event.
This Santa Rice crispy treats recipe will look perfect alongside your holiday wreath, stocking, and Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats.
The supplies you'll need for this recipe will be, first, the Red Rice Krispie Treats recipe as a base. Then you will need a little bit of black icing, white icing, and some gold sprinkles.
Step One
Start by putting 3 tablespoons of butter into a large stock pot. Put the stock pot on your stove top and set your heat to medium. Allow your butter to melt.
Once your better is mostly melted add in a full 16 ounce bag of Jet Puff Marshmallows. Continue to stir your marshmallows with the melted butter until everything has melted together.
Add in your red food coloring to the melted marshmallows and stir with your spatula. You can add more food coloring if you like until your marshmallows are bright red.
If you'd like to speed this process up just a little bit, you can follow our microwave Rice Krispie Treats recipe.
Step Two
Once your marshmallows are the bright red color, you want them to be add in 6 measured cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Stir the cereal into the marshmallows until everything is completely covered.
If you notice, the Rice Krispies absorbing the marshmallow and not turning the bright color, you want them to, you can add more food coloring if you need to.
Step Three
Spray the bottom and inside walls of a 9 x 13 baking pan with canola oil baking spray. We use canola oil spray, but you can use any flavorless baking spray you like.
Scoop your red Rice Krispie Treats mix from the pot and into the bottom of the pan. Flatten them into the bottom of the pan with their spatula until everything is even.
Now place them to the side and allow to cool for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can do this more quickly if you put them in the refrigerator or even the freezer.
Step Four
Once your Rice Krispie Treats have called, it is time to cut them. Use a sharp knife and cut them into 2 inch by two inch squares. Do this for the entire pan.
Once you have the entire pan cut, set them to the side and get out your supplies for decorating.
Step Five
The decorating supplies you will need is a tube of black icing, a canister of white icing with the star nosed dispenser, and some gold sprinkles.
We like to use the black icing that comes in a tube. You don't need any special pieces for the dispenser. Just make a simple black strip about ¾ of the way towards the bottom of the square.
For the white icing, we like to use the icing that comes in a canister with the star nosed tip. First, spray the star nosed tip across the bottom under the belt. This will look like the fur lining of Santa's coat.
Next, starting directly in the center, use more white icing to go all the way up the middle of the Santa Rice Krispie Treat. You can see an example in the image above.
Finally, just sprinkle a little bit of gold sprinkles in the middle of the belt for Santa's belt buckle. That's all there is to it! Let us see how you did in the comments below or take a picture and tag us on Instagram!
