Anytime we get a chance to make a new use out of a classic cereal, we jump at it. We're super excited about Cookie Crisp cereal bars because we get to combine breakfast cereal and chocolate chip cookies!

How to make Cookie Crisp Cereal Bars

If you're not familiar with Cookie Crisp cereal, it is basically the same thing as having chocolate chip cookies and milk, but as a breakfast food. Also known as the greatest idea ever!

Well, second greatest idea ever. Cookie Crisp cereal bars are super easy to make. And if you've ever made any of our other cereal bars like Cocoa Puffs cereal bars, Trix cereal bars, or Trolls Rice Krispie Treats, you will have no problem making these.

    Let's get to it!

    Step One

Put a large stock pot on your stovetop and set the heat to medium. Put your butter into the stock pot and allow it to melt.

After your butter has melted completely, or at least almost completely, add in your marshmallows. You want to use a full 16 ounce bag of Jet Puff Marshmallows.

You can use any brand of marshmallows that you want, they'll all work. We've just found through making countless batches of Rice Krispie Treats that Jet Puff seems to be the most consistent.

Use your spatula and stir your marshmallows into your butter until everything is completely melted and you have one big, melted marshmallow blob (so appetizing /s).

    Step Two

Reduce the heat to low or medium low. You do this so that your marshmallows did not become too hard and brittle and difficult to stir later.

Now that you have a big marshmallow buttery mix, pull out your Cookie Crisp cereal. Take 6 measured cups of your cereal and dump it into the melted marshmallows. Again, use your spatula to stir everything together.

    Step Three

Pull out a 9 x 13 baking pan and your can of canola oil spray. Coat the entire bottom and inside walls of the baking pan with canola oil. You can honestly use any kind of baking spray you like. We just prefer canola oil because it is flavorless and works really well.

Scoop all of your Cookie Crisp cereal bar batter from the large stock pot into the baking pan. Use your spatula to press all of the mix into the bottom of the pan until it is completely flat and even.

Once you have a flat, even mix, set the pan to the side and allow to cool.

    Step Four

Once your Cookie Crisp cereal bars are completely cool, take out a sharp knife and start to cut them into squares. A 9 x 13 baking pan should allow you to cut 15 to 16 squares depending on size.

    Serve and enjoy!
