Making chocolate peanut butter rice krispie treats may seem like it would be difficult. But it’s really easy! You’ll want to know how to make rice Krispie Treats, of course. But as long as you know how to do that, these only take two additional steps!

STEP ONE
Melt butter, melt marshmallows and mix thoroughly together. You can do the melting on the stove top on low heat or in the microwave.
Melting then in the microwave is faster, but stove top gives a bit more control to get the marshmallows just right.
If you use the microwave, you can melt both together at once. Versus needing to do the separately on the stove top. For the microwave, I usually stick them in for one minute increments checking and stirring then adding more time.
STEP TWO
Next, you’ll want to add and mix your rice krispies and peanut butter into your marshmallow butter mixture. Creamy peanut butter is the best to use.
STEP THREE
Make sure to get the rice Krispies, peanut butter, marshmallows and butter thoroughly combines by stirring them all together. You’ll want to have as even a distribution as possible.
STEP FOUR
Spread your mixture into a pre-greased pan. The mixture is pretty sticky, so it’s best to also use a pre-greased spatula to help get it spread.
STEP FIVE
Once your bars have set. Usually takes 20 or so minutes. You’ll want to add your chocolate.
Take about a cup of chocolate chips and melt them in the microwave. You want them to be melted, but not too thin. I like to use 30 second intervals stirring in between.
Once melted, stir them up and then spread the chocolate like icing on top of your rice Krispie Treats.
For a little extra yum, I also topped them with peanut butter and more chocolate chips.
