Whether it was Jim Carrey, computer animation, or a classic cartoon, we all grew up loving the Grinch. So what better reason to celebrate the holidays and that love than with Grinch Rice Krispie Treats?

How to Make Grinch Rice Krispie Treats
You are going to love this recipe! These snacks are cute as can be and a ton of fun to make. The best part is it's really easy.
If you've ever made any of our colored Rice Krispie Treats like red, blue, yellow, and especially green, you will have no problem with this recipe. You're going to need green food coloring, a heart shaped cookie cutter, and some red decorating gel.
Let's get to the recipe!
Step One
Add your butter into a large stock pot and start to heat it on your stovetop. While your butter is melting, go ahead and pull out your bag of Jet Puff Marshmallows. Any type of marshmallow will work, we just prefer jet puff because they are the most consistent in texture and flavor.
Once the butter is mostly melted, go ahead and dump the entire bag of marshmallows into your pot. Stir the marshmallows until they melt in with the butter, using a spatula.
While still stirring the melted marshmallows and butter mixture, go ahead and add in a good amount of green food coloring. Continue to do so while stirring until you have the right color green that you want.
Step Two
Turn the heat down on your stove so that your marshmallows don't get too hard. Now take out 6 measured cups of Rice Krispies cereal and pour them into the melted marshmallows.
Again, while stirring, you are going to want to add more food coloring into the mixture. Sometimes the cereal will dilute the color and it won't be as bright. You will want to add food coloring until again you have the correct shade of green
Step Three
Take out a 9 x 13 baking pan and coat the bottom and sides with a baking spray. We like to use canola oil, but any kind of flavorless baking spray will work.
Use your spatula to scoop all of the contents of the pot into the pan. You can also use your spatula to press the Rice Krispie mix into the bottom of the pan until it is flat and even.
Now you want to let your pan cool. You can set it aside on the counter and should take about 30 minutes. If you are impatient like we are, you can also stick it in the refrigerator or the even freezer.
Step Four
Now that your Rice Krispie Treats have sufficiently cooled, take out a sharp knife and get ready to cut them. This is where things get a little tricky. You want to cut your pan in half, to start out with.
One half you will cut into 2 x 2 inch squares, which should yield about 8 total treats. The other half will use your heart shaped cookie cutter. If you use one that's about 2 x 2 inches you should be able to get around the same amount.
You can also mush the extra pieces from around the cookie cutter and cut them again.
Step Five
Now it's time to decorate!
Take your red decorating gel and draw heart outlines on each of your Rice Krispie Treats. With some you'll want to do solid hearts with others you'll want to do just a heart outline.
Depending on the size of the Rice Krispie Treats you cut, you may even be able to do 3 heart outlines just like the Grinch's heart that grew three times bigger.
That's all there is to it! Now you and your family can make these together and have a whole ton of fun.
