How to make Wonder Woman Rice Krispie Treats
Speaking as a self proclaimed comic book nerd, I can tell you that character Rice Krispie Treats are some of the most fun and exciting treats to make. It's incredibly satisfying to watch a character that you've known your entire life come to life right on your counter top.
It's only natural that Wonder Woman, a character who is all about strength and empowerment, would lend herself to a treat that allows you to express yourself and your creativity in such a fun and colorful way.
This recipe is a bit more complicated than our normal Rice Krispie Treats recipe. You need to learn how to make Blue Rice Krispie Treats and Red Rice Krispie Treats. You will also need to know how to decorate your Rice Krispie Treats using icing like we did in the Sesame Street Rice Krispie Treats, Scooby-Doo Rice Krispie Treats, or the Unicorn Rice Krispie Treats.
If you've made any of those, this should be no problem at all. And if you haven't, you're going to have a blast just learning anyway.
Let's get started!
Step One
Now, depending on how many Rice Krispie Treats you want, you can either make 2 full batches or 2 half batches. For this recipe, we will assume you are making 2 full batches; 1 for each color.
We'll get started by melting our butter like always. You do this in a large stock pot on your stovetop, set to medium heat.
When your butter has started to melt, go ahead and add in your marshmallows. For a full sized batch we use a 16 ounce bag of Jet Puff Marshmallows. Any brand of marshmallows will work. We prefer Jet Puff just because they tend to be the most consistent in flavor and texture.
Stir everything together until it is completely melted. It looks like a solid white liquid with a buttery sheen to it.
Decide which color you want to do first. It doesn't really matter, so we will go with blue. Add your blue food coloring into the buttery marshmallow mix.
With your spatula stir the marshmallow and food coloring until it is all one solid blue color.
If you want to skip the stove top and make this go just a little bit faster, you can follow the microwave Rice Krispie Treats recipe.
Step Two
Now you want to measure out your Rice Krispies and dump them into the colorful marshmallow mix. Stir everything together until you have one solid blue batter.
If the Rice Krispies seem to not soak in enough of the color, you can always add more food coloring. Keep stirring until they are the color you want them to be.
Step Three
Take out your preferred baking pan; 9 x 13 baking pan for a full batch or 8 x 8 baking pan for a half batch. Whichever pan you use, spray the inside walls and the bottom with canola oil or your preferred non flavored baking spray.
Scoop the Rice Krispie Treats into the pan and spread them evenly across the bottom. You can use your spatula to flatten them out until everything is level.
Now repeat that entire process one more time using red food coloring instead of blue. You'll want to do this a little bit more quickly than normal, because you still want your Rice Krispie Treats of both colors to be a bit warm when it's time to cut.
Step Four
Now that you have finished both colors and they're both spread out into their pans, it's time to cut them. You want them to be a little bit warmer than normal and your hands are gonna get a little sticky and dirty in this part, but it will be worth it in the end.
Take a sharp knife and cut your Rice Krispie Treats into 2 inch by 1 inch rectangles. Kind of like we did with the Lego Rice Krispie Treats. You want to do this to both the blue and the red Rice Krispie Treats.
Now you will take one of each color and push them together. You don't want to squash them, but you want to push them together enough that since they're still warm, they will start to melt together. Once they start to stick together, you should have a red and blue 2 inch by two inch square.
Once you have done this with all of your rice crispy treats, set them to the side and allow them to cool.
Step Five
Finally, it's time to decorate. For this section you will need some gold sprinkles and white icing with a star tip. We use the icing that comes in a can similar to Reddi-whip.
The first thing we did is just put a straight line of white icing across the seam between the red and blue rectangles. They should be pretty well stuck together, but I like to cover that lineup.
Next you will take the star tip for your white icing and put just little taps of stars across the blue portion of the rice crispy treat. You will do three stars across the top and then two stars directly under them. You can see the picture as an example.
And now the most fun part, the gold sprinkles. Sprinkles are kind of like glitter you can eat and they get everywhere. We found the easiest way to do this is to get a small spoonful, we used ¼ teaspoon scoop, and use a butter knife to guide the sprinkles as they fall.
The sprinkles go on top of the white line between the 2 colors. Place a butter knife on one side and sprinkle from the other. The sprinkles should hit the knife and fall into place in the white line of icing. The icing is perfect because it hides the seems between the colors and gives the sprinkles something to stick to.
That's it! All that's left is to serve them and enjoy... And also maybe save the world?
