How to make Frosted Rice Krispie Treats
If you're familiar with how to make classic homemade original Rice Krispie Treats, then this recipe is going to be no big deal for you. Some might think that Rice Krispie Treats are sugary and sweet enough. Well, those people obviously don't have the same sweet tooth that the rest of us do.
Another thing that's great about this recipe is you can use Frosted Rice Krispie Treats in place of regular Rice Krispie Treats with any of our other recipes. So if you want to make Frosted colored Rice Krispie Treats like blue, purple, red, green, orange, or yellow, you can do that with this recipe as a base.
But that's enough talk for now. Let's get right to the recipe!
Step One
Starting with a large stock pot on your stovetop, set your heat to medium and add in your butter. Let the butter start melting while you get a 16 ounce bag of Jet Puff Marshmallows.
Once your butter has mostly melted, add in the full bag of marshmallows. Use a spatula to stir the marshmallows into the butter until everything is melted together.
Once your marshmallows and butter have converted to liquid form, reduce your heat to low and get ready for Step 2.
Step Two
Pull out your box of Frosted Rice Krispies and measure out 6 cups. Use your spatula to stir the Frosted Rice Krispies into the melted marshmallows. They should only take a minute, but you will stir until everything is thoroughly mixed.
Step Three
Get out your 9 x 13 baking pan. Use Pam canola oil or some other flavorless baking spray to coat the bottom and inside walls. This is to keep the marshmallows from sticking later on when it's time to cut them.
Pour or scoop your Frosted Rice Krispie Treat mix from the pot and into the 9 x 13 pan. Do your best to flatten the mix out into the bottom of the pan using your spatula or some other utensil. Do this until it is completely even.
Now set your treats to the side and allow them to cool. You can do this on the countertop and it will take about 30 minutes. If you want to go a little bit quicker, you can stick them in the fridge or even the freezer.
Step Four
Now that your Frosted Rice Krispie Treats have completely cooled, it's time to cut them. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut them into 2 x 2 inch squares. A full 9 x 13 baking pans should end up giving you about 16 or so Rice Krispie Treats.
Now all you have to do is serve them and enjoy them.
